Planting to charm the eye and delight the senses
"The garden already looks gorgeous,
(I know that plants need to grow and fill their space, but I'm enjoying the variety of textures) we can't stop
staring at it - thank you so much for all your effort." Julia, Finchley

Planning the Planting
Over time we have come to realise that planting means very different things to different people - one person's
delight is another's eyesore.What
we take care to do is produce a planting plan for you that is your delight, and will work all year round to give your garden
seasonal interest. Whether you are a keen gardener or want your garden to look good without much work we can design the planting
to suit your tastes.
"I liked working with John in the first instance because he was courteous
and considerate and was very good at listening and getting an accurate sense of the type of garden I was aiming
for. Then, when it came to the actual planting of the garden, John achieved much with great calm and care, and the results are
dramatic, and beautiful. He was very resourceful and thoughtful, making useful suggestions for maintenance
and future ideas, and he was scrupulous about recording planting decisions which engenders trust. I only wish
that I had known about his services a long time ago." Jane,

Why have a Planting Plan?
Planting Plans do several
things:-
They save money. Many people's gardens develop haphazardly - a bit at a time. People like the look of a particular plant in the
garden centre and find a place in their garden for it. Unfortunately it may well not be the right place and it may fail. Garden
centres rely on customers returning each year to buy more plants. Putting the right plant in the right place, with the knowledge
that it will not outgrow its space is part of what a Planting Plan does.
They create
a unified look to the garden. Many gardens are developed
piece-meal without a clear idea at the beginning of the eventual overall look. A Planting Plan sets out at the beginning with
a clear idea, based on the client's brief in conjunction with the designer. A plan is then produced which gives
a unified design.
They give clients a clear view of how the planting will look. Each Planting Plan consists not only of the plan but a series of colour photographs to
illustrate the plants chosen. Alongside of the plan comes a 'Planting Philosophy' which describes the overall appearance
and the seasonal changes of the planted area.
They provide useful additional information. Planting Plans come with a plant schedule - that
is a list of all the plants and their biological names which allows for scheduling maintenance - what to do when with
each plant.
